Anti-aging is a natural part of life, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do our best to keep our skin looking its best. Here are seven anti-aging tips for your skin that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine:

1. Use a Gentler face wash

As we age, our skin produces less oil, which can cause it to become dry and wrinkled. Regularly moisturize your skin to maintain its hydration and suppleness. Look for a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or glycerin.

2. Start using retinoids

Over time, skin can begin to lose collagen, the protein responsible for keeping it looking smooth and lifted. This loss can result in a wrinkled appearance. Experts agree that the best line of defence is to use a retinoid, a prescription-strength version of vitamin A.

3. Upgrade your SPF routine

Regularly using sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher is a great way to keep your skin healthy and prevent age spots and discolouration. But not all sunscreens are created equal when ensuring supple skin.

4. Use a more decadent face cream

Because sebaceous glands can become less active as we age, the AAD recommends proper moisturizing to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

Swapping out your regular face cream for a richer one will help trap water on the skin and pump up deep crevices. Additionally, to treat your neck and upper torso, massage the formula down there as well.

5. Eat healthy

What you eat will show on your skin. A healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains can help protect your skin from damage and promote healthy cell growth. Steer clear of processed foods, sweet beverages, and too much alcohol.

6. Get enough sleep

When you’re sleep-deprived, your body releases stress hormones that can damage your skin. Make an effort to obtain seven to eight hours per night.

7. Weekly peeling

Our skin regularly removes dead cells and creates a new layer every 28 days. But this process can slow down, leading to dull-looking skin and rough patches. To help remove this buildup, exfoliate weekly for clearer skin.
