Basic steps:

A Korean skincare routine usually consists of 10 steps, although you can customize it to suit your needs and preferences. Here is a breakdown of the basic steps:

Double cleaning:

Oil-based cleanser: Dissolves makeup, sunscreen, and sebum without stripping your skin. Gently massage into dry skin and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Water-based cleanser: Removes any remaining impurities and leaves the skin feeling fresh.

Peel:

Use a gentle chemical exfoliant (AHA or BHA) or physical exfoliator (scrub) 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.

Toner:

Toners check your skin’s pH and prepare it for the following treatment. Opt for hydrating toners that contain soothing ingredients like rose water or Centella Asiatica.

Essence:

Essences are light, watery serums full of concentrated active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide or snail mucin. They focus on specific problems such as hydration, brightening or wrinkle reduction.

Treatment serums:

Apply serums with powerful ingredients to address concerns such as dark spots, acne or fine lines. If you want, layer 2-3 serums, starting with the thinnest consistency.

Sheet mask (optional):

Sheet masks are covered in essence and provide an intensive dose of hydration and nutrients. Use them 2-3 times a week for extra support.

Eye cream:

The delicate skin around the eyes requires special care. Choose a hydrating eye cream that will target problems like puffiness and dark circles.

Humidifier:

Seal all that goodness in with a moisturizer that suits your skin type. Look for ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid and squalane for deep hydration.

SPF (daytime only):

Sunscreen is non-negotiable! Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days.

Pro tips:

Listen to your skin: Don’t be afraid to adjust your routine according to your needs. Pay attention to how your skin reacts to each product and make changes accordingly.

Patch test new products: Before applying any new product to your entire face, do a patch test on a small skin area first.

Be gentle: Avoid harsh scrubbing and use lukewarm water when washing your face.

Consistency is key: A Korean skincare routine is all about consistency. Stick with it for at least 4-6 weeks to see results.

Remember that achieving glass skin is a journey, not a destination. Be patient, experiment, and have fun with your skincare routine!
